Upon his return to Washington, D.C., Fisher is tasked with identifying several Russian diplomats who are actually members of an international network of mercenaries and arms dealers known as Vselka Inflictus. After that, Fisher will be sent on a mission to Georgia after learning that one of its ex-politicians has helped fund Vselka Inflictus. After meeting with him, Fisher jumps into action at the embassy in order to find the Russians who are plotting to launch an attack on the United States. The game takes place after "" and before "". Players will return as opposite characters, Sam Fisher is now a marine, and Sam's wife Maria was killed by terrorists during the events of "" at the beginning of the game. After completing his last mission in Tibet, Fisher is sent on another one after his wife's former boss is found dead. His cover has been blown by some terrorists that are rebels which are being supported by KSK, a secret organization of Russian soldiers. Fisher is sent there to hunt down those who have kidnapped Maria's supervisor.
